WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - On Thursday, May 1 at 11 a.m., SportSouth's College Flash Classics will air a replay of the 2001 Wake Forest-UNC football game in Chapel Hill which features the biggest comeback in the history of Demon Deacon football.

Time Warner Cable subscribers in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County market can view SportSouth on channel 71.

Down 24-0 at halftime and 31-14 heading into the fourth quarter, the Deacs would go on to score 18 fourth quarter points and stun the Tar Heels with a 32-31 victory.

Wake was led by Tarence Williams' 101 yards rushing and a defensive effort that held North Carolina to 77 yards of offense in the second half.

The comeback missed the all-time ACC record by four points. Clemson overcame a 28-point deficit to be Virginia 29-28 in 1992.

Deacon quarterback James MacPherson scored with 1:17 left to give the Wake the one-point lead.

The Tar Heels had one final shot as Darian Durant completed three straight passes to put UNC in field goal range, but on the ensuing play safety Quinton Williams came on a blitz, knocked the ball out of Durant's hand and Deacon linebacker Caron Bracy recovered the fumble to seal the win.

The win came in Jim Grobe's first season as head coach at Wake Forest.
