Women's Basketball Opens Exhibition Season with Anderson on Saturday

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's basketball team will kick off its exhibition season on Saturday, Nov. 3, when it hosts Anderson University at 3 p.m. at the Joel Coliseum.

The Demon Deacons will play two exhibition games before opening its regular season schedule at home on Nov. 13 when they host USC Upstate. In addition to Saturday's game, Wake will also host North Carolina Central in its final exhibition game on Wed, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m. at the Joel.

The Deacs will also host Charlotte in regular season play on Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. before embarking on a five-game road trip, which includes three games in the U.S. Virgin Islands as part of the Paradise Jam from Nov. 22-24.

Fourth-year head coach Mike Petersen returns all 10 letterwinners from last year's team and welcomes three newcomers to the 2007-08 squad.

The Deacs return lone senior Christen Brown, juniors Corinne Groves, Yolanda Lavender and Alex Tchangoue and a sophomore class of six, including Jessica Bryant, Jessie Cain, Courteney Morris, Tiffany Roulhac, Mekia Valentine and redshirt sophomore Sarah Riddle. Wake's freshman class includes Camille Collier, Brittany Waters and Kem Wilson.

Admission to both exhibition contests is free to the public. Seating for both games within Joel Coliseum is general admission.
