Wake Forest Returns to Action at 2006 Fall Preview

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's golf team will get a sneak preview of next spring's NCAA Championships course when it returns to action this weekend at the 2006 Fall Preview. This weekend's tournament will be held at the home of the upcoming national championships, the LPGA International's Legends Course in Daytona Beach, Fla.

Seventeen of the 18 participating teams ended last spring ranked in the top 20 nationally.

In addition to Wake Forest, the tournament field includes Duke, UCLA, Arizona State, Southern California, Georgia, Auburn, Purdue, California, Tennessee, Florida, Vanderbilt, Arkansas, Virginia, UNLV, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M and Central Florida.

UCF, the tournament host along with the Central Florida Sports Commission, is the only team out of last season's top 20.

Wake Forest is coming off last weekend's Mason Rudolph Championship. The Demon Deacons finished in a tie for seventh out of 15 teams.

The Deacs were led by senior Mandy Goins, who shot a career-low 67 in the second round. Goins finished the weekend tied for sixth out of 81 golfers. Freshman Dolores White also had a solid weekend, tying for 16th place.

Friday's and Saturday's rounds will begin at 8 a.m. Sunday's competition will be a shotgun start beginning at 8:30 a.m. Fans can follow the action live on www.golfstat.com.
