Wake Forest Places Five on All-ACC Academic Cross Country Team

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest's Chelsea Bolton, Marley Burns, Caitlin Chrisman, Merry Placer and Nicole Schappert have all been named to the 2007 All-ACC Academic Women's Cross Country Team.

Bolton, a freshman with an undeclared major, competed in six events this past fall, finishing in the top five on the team in all of them. The Palatine, Ill. native finished ninth at the Wake Forest Relays and 25th at the ACC Championships.

Burns, a freshman with an undeclared major, competed in six events during the season and finished among the Deacons' top four runners four times. The Asheville, N.C. native had top-20 finishes at the Wake Forest Relays and the Boston College Invitational. Burns placed 28th at the ACC Championships.

Chrisman, a senior business major, was one of the Demon Deacons' top two runners in all six events she competed in. The Carbondale, Ill. native placed in the top 21 in all six of her races, including a fifth-place showing at the Boston College Invitational. Chrisman led Wake Forest at the NCAA Southeast Regionals by finishing 12th overall.

Placer, a fourth-year junior sociology major, competed in six events on the season, finishing in the top five on the team in all of them. The Flagstaff, Ariz. native placed seventh at the season-opening Wake Forest Relays and was 41st at the ACC Championships.

Schappert, a junior business major, led the Deacons in four of the five events she competed in. The Delray Beach, Fla. native placed second at the Wake Forest Relays. Schappert was in the top 20 overall in all five of her competitions.
 

 

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.
